Why should I replace the control arms that seem to be available on every website from varying amounts of money plus shipping (heavy Items) when my control arms are not damaged and seem fine to me?? I can replace and press all the bushings and seals... So I ask, why do I want so spend money on control arms that I don't need, do they wear out? the bushings have thats for sure..

NO, they don't "wear out" but the steel control arms don't have a replaceable ball joint. so you have replace the whole thing
Its hard to believe, but from what i've been told, its true... [thumbd]
If your ball joints are ok, ie; have no play, just replace the rubber bushes *nodding head*

From what I understand, this is a bit of German engineering "logic" - if/when the ball joints fail, the control arm may be stressed by use, road conditions, etc. to the point that it should be replaced for safety... So by making the joints non-replaceable, they are ensuring your safety against a future catastrophic failure of the control arm!!

For street cars, this is really excessive concern, IMHO. But there is some evidence to back it up. SCCA and BMW CCA racers typically replace BMW control arms every few years to avoid a catastrophic failure. Apparently they do weaken with hard use.
