Hi,

I have a 2004 330i with the standard (manual) seats. Because both my wife and I drive the car it would be more convenient to have the electric memory seats. I know it is a factory option but I bought this car secondhand and asked the dealer if the electric seats can be retrofitted. He looked up the spec of the car and just said "No" - but didn't elaborate as to why. Can anybody help.

Regards

Dave

Most likely something to do with wiring, no harness in the car for the seats and maybe even the computer you have has not information on power seats, I'm just guessing?

Yes.

I looked into this, wanted to get powered seats as well - then decided I'm gonna go with some sorta Sparco's whenever I retire the baby from DD service.

Powered seats placed into a car w/ manual seats equals a LOT of dough to make it happen - but money does solve everything. You'll need power harnesses run, a different seat chassis placed where the 'manual' seat chassis is (What the seat bolts into - the seats can come out fairly easily). I don't think a ECU upgrade would be needed unless you wanted to make use of the memory feature for the powered seats. Just to power em and get em working likely won't require ECU upgrade - but hey I don't work for em I just type here.. [:)]
