Ok even though I have had my oil filled, then changed, the oil light appears everytime I start the car, then disappears a minute later.

Now my Coolant light appears at certain times when I start the car and stays on for 5 minutes then disappears. I checked this and its full as well.

Are these just computer glitches or what?

I ahve had the same problems too when I had my car back in December. It was a sensor problem for mine and also I had my Igntion Coils replaced after the recall. The best thing to do is to take it in and have it checked. most likely a sensor problem which I had.

Well there are two sides to these systems. One side is the sensor, the other side is the computer that processes the incoming sensor data. I think there are multiple oil sensors (pressure and level). I think the yellow light indicates the level is below some critical threshold, and the red light indicates pressure below some critical level.

So there are a few possibilities here. 1. The sensor is faulty, i.e. the level or pressure is really OK but the sensor reports incorrect data. 2. The sensor is correct and you really do have low level or pressure. 3. The computer is buggy and is incorrectly processing the incoming data.

I guess a visit to a BMW mechanic would be the only way to know for sure. For number 2 above, even though you have a full crankcase if there is a problem with the oil pump, the pressure could be low at first then it builds up to an OK level. I think 3 above is unlikely.

Coolant system check is similar, but kinda makes you wonder why both systems would be acting the same way.....maybe both sensors are bad.

Thanks for the responses!

I'd hate to spend 100+ dollars just so I can be told its a sensor problem. I think I'll just live with it for now.....

What would you all do?

I've got the exact same problem. Oil light comes on about 80% of time, stays on for about 10 seconds, coolant just started as well, only about 20% of the time. Both fluids are 'A' okay. Just living with it for now. My four-way flashers and my door lock just stopped working as well. Checked fuses, they are okay. Looks like a trip to the dealer is in order....... By the way, does the E90 have an actual oil dipstick??
