Hey all, I just ordered clear corners and red/clear tails for my E46, I have the haynes complete strip/rebuild guide, but has anyone added these on themselves? The tails seem fairly easy but it looks like a pain in the @$$ to get to the corners in the front, well any info would help after I recieve them and install ill post some pics up...

Thanks

Front corner lights

Hi there,

Look under the hood, at the front corners, over a little hole in the fender/quarter panel directly over the lens assy.
There should be either clip/s (1 or 2 that you'll see w/new part) or a screw (phillips head w/plastic ring/cone thingy).
Undo it/them, slide it out, switch over the socket, and install your new lens assy.

Hope this helps,
Tiger

P.S. If a car has clear lenses, should there be a yellow bulb inside?

the front side corners slide out after u release the black plastic clip by inserting a medium/ large flathead screwdriver into the oval hole that sits about an inch or two inward above it and gently pulling the screwdriver tip towards you. if it doesn't release right away, gentle angle the screwdriver a little. when u line it up right, the entire corner just "pops" right out smoothly. (yah, the manual's instructions kind of suck.)

when u install the new one, u have to be careful when u slide the corner back in- only because the plastic edges of the light can be sharp and scratch the painted portion of the car that's below where the corner light sits. so, go slowly and make sure to align the clips of the new light onto the track inside. (it helps to use a flashlight and look at it first, cuz u'll see how it fits right in.)

good luck.

i've actually never taken apart the tailight housing- only the bulb housing inside the trunk. so, maybe someone else can help explain the procedure? i'm curious to know how it's done too. :)

much appreciated, thanks..... i cant wait for my stuff to arrive, i just hate having to rely on eBay sellers, sometimes theyre prompt sometimes watching grass grow seems quicker lol,

so far I've ordered-

Clear Corners, Clear/Red Tails, and Clear Side Markers..... next week i plan on ordering a set of painted eyelids, chrome kidnet grille, and a chrome trunk lid.... im basically modding the appearence, hopefully if all goes well with this new job im trying to get(fingers crossed), ill be making enough to do some motor work....
