Could There Be Something Wrong With My Paint ??

My Jet Black Paint is driving me to drink (more).
The use of a good wax and Mist & Shine has kept it looking great for months.

But this is the second time I have wiped a spot off (the first time it was bird shit) and had it remain there!

This time I think it is mineral filled water from an overpass that seemed to eat right into the paint. The bird spots required a mild compound from my detailer to remove. It coundn't have been there for more than a 1/2 hour.

What the hell is going on with this paint?

Otherwise, the car has been awesome !!

Thats the beauty of having black paint. It shows everything..I bet i must have half a dozen spots on my hood but you can't see it on Tit.Silver . Have your detailer buff out the spots and try applying a paint sealer then wax for extra protection...

Same opinion here. I swore off black after my last black car. Showed every scratch, swirl and stain. From bird poop stains to bug stains to micro scratches. I love the mirror black finish but hate the maintenance and will never do it again. Unless I win the lottery and can employ a slave to wash and maintain my black Porsche GT2.

I'll be the 3rd Tit Silver owner to share my 2 cents. I love the look of a shiny black bimmer, they look awesome, but unless you're a person that has the time to constantly wipe down your car, I would definitely stay away from black. Every little imperfection of the paint is soooo noticible.

I keep a spray bottle in my trunk with water mixed with a little bit of soap. Whenever there's a spot of bird crap (and it seems like there always is!), I clean it off right away. Don't let that poop sit on your car for too long cause it will ruin the paint. And it's very difficult to remove the stain once it's there. I don't think anything is worse than bird crap, except for maybe road salt during the winter months.

It's not that bad. I have owned 2 black cars and if you keep it waxed (do it right) you won't see that kind of damage. Although my current car has a lot of highway chips, it still looks great. I always get complements on it.

I agree, I think black cars look great.(My very first car was black but the 3 since then have all been silver). However, I also think that out of all the different colors, black cars are the most difficult to keep clean and require a little extra attention. Just my 2 cents

I hear ya on the paint chips, but its the price of getting a black car. One recommendation a friend of mine gave me, I've yet to try it though... Zaino. A dozen coats or so of Zaino, and you should be fine.

I have a black coupe. And I do need to wipe it clean pretty often... I have found some microfiber towel from Costco. Only like $20 for 12 of them (can't remember how much exactly, but it is not that expensive). They are super good for cleaning.. and making my cleaning much easier without leaving any water mark or dirts. I have also use spray on wax after each wash, just to keep the car easy to wipe clean later... just my 2 cents.. :p

i haven't used Zaino yet but have good things about it. If its carnuba then you don't want to put more than 2 coats, layering carnuba clouds the finish ..IMO.

Black looks great in the show room but is horrible to look after. I used to work as a detailer for Mazaratti, all the new cars go washed and waxed once a week except the black ones. They got rinsed and dried and that sometimes even caused swirels.
