While driving home this evening in my 330i around dusk, my dashboard made a loud beep like some kind of warning signal. A few miles down the road it beeped again. There were no warning lights on and everything seemed normal. I did have the headlights set to auto. Anyone heard of this before? Could it have something to do with the headlights coming on at dusk or could it be because the doors were unlocked?

Any chance the temperature was around 37 degrees? There is a freeze warning beep that sounds at 37.

Although I wouldn't expect it to be that cold in Houston this time of year?

when its 70+ in michigan, i couldn't imagine houston being in the 30s.. despite the impending global warming and all. [:D]

hmm, that's really interesting. only other beeping i can think of is on my parents' x5, which beeps just as clock hits the ? o'clock. but mine doesn't do it..

good luck w/ the investigation and sorry i couldn't be of much help..

My 2002 330 xi has made a beeping noise, shortly after startup ever since I purchased it. Usually after a couple of blocks - a single "beep" - and only after I start it up the first time of the day. Several people in the car have noticed it, but the dealer has never heard of it and couldn't explain it. After 5 years, I've never had a problem, so I just ignore it.

Well, it has not beeped for the last couple of days. My dealer suggested that, while I was scrolling through the computer functions on the steering wheel stalk, I inadvertently set some kind of timer. My owners manual does not mention this.
