Hey everyone...I have a 2000 323 Ci convertible and I am soooooooo confused as to whether or not this car has daytime running lights. I read the manual and it says that the car does have daytime running lights with the light switch set on the 2nd notch. When I do that, my rear lights come on as well!?? [screwy] I don't understand. Can anyone explain to me how to turn JUST my front daytime running lights on?

They should be on whenevr your headlights and parking lights are off. If they are not on then chances are they were deactivated by the dealer. Many people in e46's prefer to have them off because if they get angel eyes it tends to disrupt the look. If you dont see them on your bulbs may be burned out (check high beams) or the option was deactivated by the dealer. The dealer can reprogram them back on for about $35-$50 depending on your dealership.

Your DRL should be on whenever the car is started, regardless of light switch position. Are you the second owner? If so, the original owner may have had the DRL feature deactivated by the stealer. You'll have to go back to the stealer (or other BMW shop with the equipment). They usually charge you about 1/2 hour service. If they charge more, they're ripping you off.

Daytime running lights are the amber/yellow lights that come on during the daytime only. Your light switch needs to be in the Automatic (fog lights off) mode or the "A" mode.

The daytime running lights are the bulbs closest to the front grille. If you rear lights are turning on then those are not your daytime running lights. Those are your regular, nighttime lights.

Also, on my E46, if you have the daytime running lights running but turn on your fogs, the xenons (if you have them) automatically come on.

Make sure yours are activated by going to a dealer, hope that helped...tough question to explain without pictures, hehe... [thumb]
