Finally got dinged today by a piece of metal kicked up by some large truck. [:(!]

Has anyone tried using the Autosharp pen http://www.autovisuals.com/ and what were the results? Or should I just use the BMW touch up paint?

How about going to a body shop? Is it even worth it?

It's small but it's scratched down to the metal. Sucks...

Thanks.

The only way that you're going to get anything that looks decent is to head to a body shop, especially with metallic.

You can try the touchup paint, but I don't think that you will be happy with the results.

Ouch, I can feel your pain....... Try the touchup pain from your dealer. I couldn't tell how big your scratch is.

Get couple quotes from different body shops. I know couple that would make you repaint your entire car. That may not be what you want.

That scratch is about 1.5 - 2 inches and is on the hood just between the grill and the left head light. My coupe is steel grey and scratch stands out like a sore thumb.

Mr E, what's GS-29, 27? This scratch is down to the primer if not the metal.

I'm thinking about getting BMW touch up paint and Griot's touch up kit.

What company makes that MrElussive? Is the GS-29 or GS-27 the brand name? Sounds like I could use some of this stuff. Thanks ahead for any input you may provide. [thumb]

The product is called GS27 Scratch Remover. Basically, I think it's just a really low-grit car wax. The way you use it is, you shake the bottle well, then put a dime-size amount onto a typical wax applicator pad. Then rub the applicator pad onto the scratch in a circular motion. The way the product works is, it just moves the paint around to fill in the scratch. This product works extremely well for light scratches (whether its chipped paint due to rocks thrown on your car from highway driving, or just some idiot who scratched your car). I honestly don't know how well it will work for a really deep scratch, but I am assuming it will help a little bit. The product is $15 and you can get from here: http://www.alltvstuff.com/gs27.html. At the very least (worst-case scenario that it doesn't repair your deep scratch), you will definitely love and use this product many times for light scratches due to normal wear-and-tear. [thumb]
