Dent on Hood

Hello all,

I went out to walk my son around the block and noticed that I have a small dent on my hood. It does not feel like it is really bad, but you can see the light reflect off of it and it is definantly a dent. Is there such a thing as a surface dent? You ca nreally hardly feel anything. The only thing that I can think of that cause it was my son playing wiffle ball , he hit a blooper, and the ball hit my hood. It is just hard to believe that a wiffle ball could cause a dent on the hood. Any suggestions? Sounds like I have to find a paintless dent removal place near me.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have the same kind of dent on my hood and it is most likely not from your son's wiffle ball, but could be heat from the engine itself (sounds weird but it can be true), or if it's just a little half inch long kind of 'dent' (which is what I have), it could be caused by pushing too hard on the hood while washing the car or something like that... they are weird dents though.

I have a small dent on my hood too. I think if i had pressed too hard in washing and waxing I would have noted it when drying and buffy. It's really bizarre.

It's on the crease extending across the hood from the right kidney grill. It's barely noticeable and I'm not sure you'll be able to see it in the red circle with the reduced pixels. But when I look at the hood, that's all I see... [:(]

Heat...really!?! That could explain it. I thought someone sat on my hood. [ohcrap]

you won't be able to get the dent out from the inside because the hood is 2 pieces pressed together . Do the dent doctors have that suction cup thingy for hood repairs ?? I've seen the dent puller on an infomercial and it looked like crapola..I 've heard some guys use dry-ice to " coax " the metal back in place..anybody know of this one..

I will post a pic when I get the chance... Car is covered in pollen right now... Anyways... I called my dealership and they have dent wizards in every tue to fix dings and dents. They said charge is 85$ per.... Does this seem about right? Or do they sound expensive?

$85 is a good price to get out a dent. There is a place here called Dent Wizard and they start at $129. Price goes up depending on the dent size and number.

Hey guys,

saw the topic and just wanted to let you know my experiences with dentless repair. I had two dents on my car, a big one (about 3 inches long, next to my refuel cap; probably caused by transporting my car from Holland to the U.S.; insurance paid me almost 650 dollars for it) and a small one on my hood, caused by something hard falling out the trees. A dentless repair specialist asked 50 dollar total for both dents. The guy really knew what he was doing and almost got the big dent out, the only person that is still able to see it is me. Jonnyz16, it doesn't matter that the hood is 2 pieces pressed together, it took the guy 2 minutes and the dent was out completely. I guess every price below 100 dollars is not that bad (I didn't get warranty or whatsoever; don't need it either-saw the guy handling my car and he knew what he was doing).
