That is a nice description but there are errors notably the later 318. It was available for more than one year. Many of the standard features on the "es" & "is" were available as options even on the old 318i ie LSD. Some items were standard in one country while not available or optional in others ie sunroof. The latest example of that is the new E46 Performance Package which is currently a US only option. Equipment also varied by model year confusing the issue more. There are differences between Euro models and US models in levels of standard equipment as well. Further clouding the issue are what people see, some features are changes (upgrades) made by previous owners. Different air dams, 14 x 6" vs 14 x 6.5" wheels or even the steel 14 x 5.5 inch wheels with hubcaps of Euro models and some of the later 318i and "is"models. To be sure it is hard to generalize many of the features available or std on each model or model year. Looking thru my set of old BMW sales brochures shows that. Body color mirrors were not on the 325i in 1989 but were on the "is" and later "s" packages that were not denoted. My '89 has a manual sunroof, the "is" has a power sunroof. The rear lip spoilers were one of the very few items that you could generalize on but many owners later added that feature to their "i" models. The M-Technic suspension however was std on the "is" models and not available on base "i" models in the US except when the "s" became a package and not a separate model. Confusing? The E30 M3s differed even more from the base and "s" models and there are many differences between different year and version M3s (base, Evo 1 etc, Euro).
