Ummm....hmmmm....an aftermarket dipstick?!? LOL. Anyway, there should be two notches on the red plastic. The oil should be between the two notches. It's not the metal kind where you have to read a line...or figure out which holes have oil. I hope that helps.

not the whole stick is plastic, only the top end to measure the oil....try to take it from its positivie side: plastic is lighter than metal --> safe weight [rofl]
Yes, I notice a real seat-of-the-pants difference in power due to the saved weight with my plasticized dipstick..... [rofl] [rofl]

But really.....the plastic end I think holds the oil on it better than a metal one. The oil sticks to it so it is easier to read. At least that's my observation....

And Wadula......it is the BOTTOM end that is plastic (do all Germans have this reversed?? [rofl] ).....and it is "SAVE weight" not "safe weight"!!! [bash] [bash]

I may have to lock you up in Colonel Klink's cooler, der Kommodant!!!!

BTW your English is a hell of a lot better than my German...... [cheers]

I asked the same question myself. My manual and the actual dipstick are very different. I have found this with a number of things, it’s like I got a bunch of leftover, spare parts.
