Last night, while cleaning my dashboard, I discovered the following
headlight feature on my 2003 330ci. I think this feature is called "follow
me home" on many cars, and is designed to provide light while the driver
walks up in the driveway/garage and into the house at night.

Here's how to use "follow me home":

After turning off the engine, flip on the high beams.

The headlights will remain on for about 30 seconds, and then shut off
automatically.

Is this a widely known feature?

Headlights temporarily on.

[repost] I think it is true as I did it by accident a few weeks ago. I thought the lights were stuck on, so I re-started the car. I then realized this feature.

Actually on the new 3er you can change the time the headlights stay on after you get out of the car, its really no big deal the Mercedes S-Class had this feature oh about 10 years ago.

This feature appears to be not widely known. For some reason, it seems that the only people aware of it is a cult group known as the Manual Readers. Who'd have thunk. [rolleyes]
Uh, the official name of the cult is WRTFM (We Read the Fine Manual).
