Does the driver side mirror tilt in reverse?

Why not? I always have to manually adjust the mirror on my side when doing back-in to a parking spot that's right beside a curb (curb on my side, that is).

You know, tilt-down mirror is not just for parallel parking... [:)]

330i and like it said:
You are parking in the wrong direction. If you parking with the flow of the traffic then you only need the passenger mirror to tilt for curb reasons.
I guess you had parallel parking in mind.

I was talking about parking in, say, a mall parking lot. [:)]

I've always used the right mirror when i'm parking in a mall lot. Look back and turn the car, then use the mirror to guide how far I am from the lines on the right side of the car. I gotta say that tilt feature is verrrrryyy spoiling. Spoiling enough, that if i drove a regualr car w/o that feature, I be like. umm.. how on earth do i back this thing again.

Pardi, are you Asian? Just curious cuz it seems that parking backwards into a spot tends to be an Asian habit.

I've noticed that I don't need both the mirrors to tilt when backing out of my g/f's driveway in SF. It's always a tight fit cuz cars on the street park into the driveway opening but just using the mirrors is fine.

Yes, I'm Asian but I'm not sure if it's really an Asian habit because I do see many people of other ethnic origins doing the same.

I don't do back-in's all the time. It really depends on the situation. Say in a chaotic parking lot (IKEA comes to mind), I usually find a spot that's right beside a curb so that I can leave as much room as possible to avoid potential door dings. It's easy to do a front-in, of course, but that would make it so much harder to back out when I leave because the space is really tight and you don't want your front wheel to go over the curb etc.

I just find it safer and more convenient, that's all...
