Any of your guys know if there's a brighter bulb out there to use for the dome light? My iC has the dimmest domelight I've seen. I replaced it the other day, it was still dim. So I'm assuming I need a brighter bulb...?

I've seen on some Ricer sites that sell the colored ones also sell something referred to as "halogen" ones that are supposedly bright. I have not tried them, I fear if they are truly a higher wattage they might get to hot (ours get pretty dam hot as is). I chose to get a maplight mirror and sit farther back (an option on the 2doors, 4 door guys are screwed).

Also you might want to try getting replacement lenses. Depending on your budget they arent really that much and I noticed an improvement. Mine were all yellowed and burnt from the bulb I guess. The new ones are much clearer and the light is whiter.

Also a couple tips for improving the lighting on our cars. Some people have deleted the Check panel and added one there. Some have put a small one like the glvoe box light in the panel covering the sunroof motor (considering this myself). These should help a lot since its not the light that is the problem but its location behind the drivers head. [:(!]

Also in the trunk if you have an 86-87 car with the thinner lights you might be able to find some early bulb holders that had a clear cutout for the parking light so it shined into the trunk. Mine has this and it helps.

I also took a salvaged glove box light and affixed it to the top center of the dense cardboard material at the back of the trunk. That helped a lot, just rant some 18/2 security wire up to the trunk switch.

Good cheap mods.

Im also considering seeing if something could be put in the footwells, because its a bitch to find something if you dropped it.

Hmm... I never though about takin the glovebox light. I think that'll suit me better. Seems easier to do than the other ones. I think I might take a visit to the junk yard today. Haha...

Thanks!

You got a pic? This might be a starting point for putting a light up front where it can actually be usefull when opening the doors. Although now that I have a maplight mirror my lazy ass will probably not do it.

I like the idea but it does not appear to be room enough next to the checkpanel in a sedan. The ic looks like it has a larger flat area for the checkpanel. Do you think it would work and look Ok if put above the panel? I really like the map light mirror, that would work in any model. I'm definitely going to do the added trunk light tho. That one that came in the car is virtually useless.

Ryan that mirror light is great, like to have one fer my car as well. Do let on where you latched onto it. Ryan on this end as well....

Oh, and your tilt pic is fine. Thowing opinions around can come off harsh sometimes. I enjoy looking at some of the signature (far left) pictures. The white cat licking it's paw is a good one.

im just playing on the tilt pic. :)

THe mirror I got from a guy who was parting out a 325is from a web forum, bmwe30.net I think. Its a factory part, you can get them new for a couple hundred or used for about 100. Check Ebay from time to time.

The trunk light was just something I did with my old glove box light. THe retaining clip broke so I epoxied it into the trunk liner and wired it up. Its a small bulb so ti doesnt get hot but it really lights the back of the trunk at night..

I also think the 325i guys could cut a hole in the back of the parking light holder and install a clear peice of plastic like mine was from factory.

Been to Overland Park a few times on buiness for work. I'm in Wichita. Used to be a BMWCCA group here but haven't heard anything. Need to rejoin CCA & get Roundel, mis the articles. Bought another vehicle to drive this weekend so I can park the 325. Wouldn't know how to remove those rocker shafts & everything else so valve guide seals can be replaced would you? When I bought this 325 the seller gave me a spare low-milage engine. The bottom end was locked up but the head has very little carbon buildup. Can't wait to get started on this car...
