Door Rattle

have an 04 325xiT. It seems that once in awhile, I hear a rattle or a knocking inside the drivers door if I go over bumps. I've checked that it is not anthing I have laying in the door pockets. It even seems to happen sometimes if I have the stereo turned up loud and there is a lot of base. Can't tell if it is the speaker itself that is loose or something else. Sounds like metal knocking around.

Also, don't know if it is connected but it seems at ttimes I hear air leaking in through the widow as I drive down the highway.

Has anyone else experienced these problems? Is this something I should be going back to the dealer to get corrected or is it just something I have to put up with?

I had the rattling problem, too, with my previous 01' 325ci. I could never trace what it was because the times and driving conditions that it happened were never consistent. Although annoying, I had to learn to deal with it. I never took mine in. It has not occured with my 04' 325i -- So far so good.

Same here......my '01 325i has this bizarre door rattle....not all the time. Heck, I thought it was just my Bimmer......but perhaps it's systemic.

WD-40 - I've had that in my Z4 when the top is down, never happened again once I sprayed inside the hinge.

I have a 2001 330ci and have the same problem with the passenger door or speaker rattling. Also seems to have air leaks around the driver side window

well my 318is right door ratles a bit, its cuz the door isn't completely locking place, the dealership can fix this but they need to take the door apart, last service i didnt' have the time to leave it there for hte time needed...but it does rattle sometimes, i just keep the radio on and don't notice it anymore

I have a 2004 330Ci coupe and have the same problem with the passenger door panel rattling.

my 320cic right door rattles too occasionally. Can't find the prob. its metal to metal though.

I too am disappointed in the rattles in my 2004 330cic. I can stop the convertable top rattles by keeping the back chrome trim under the top rubber gasket seal waxed (stops rattle/squeaking noise). Also the passenger side female seat belt end will rattle against the center console side and sound like the rattle is coming from the passenger door. Pushing it down between the seat and center console will stop this rattle. But I can not solve the rattle that appears to be coming from the passenger door. Love the car but hate the rattles

About Door Rattle

When I first got my vehicle, I noticed that I have the rattle noise from the front passenger door, sometimes. But upon further investigation, it turned out that the front passenger seat belt sometimes is caught between the front seat and the pillar. This will happen from time to time. One way to see if this is the actual cause of the rattle noise is to buckle down the passenger seat belt and drive over some bumpy road and see if it still occurs. Just my two cents of thought.

This is my first BMW and so far so good.
It is good to see so many knowledgeable BWMers on this borad !

I have the passenger door rattle as well, 2000 323i. It seems to go away when the window is down, maybe the window track inside the door is loose ?? I am a little apprehensive to go exploring because of the side airbag though, rather frustrating noise indeed !

I get a inconsistent rattle from the passenger door. I read on this forum about a loose Harmon Kardon speaker being the problem. I think there's a fix for it.

I got the same problem in my 00' 323i as well....i just noticed it a week ago...i thought it was cuz i had something in the compartment in the pass' door....i'll see if it makes the same noise....

I love my BMW...im registered in a couple of bmw forums and the problems are endless!!!! im starting to lose confidence in BMW....i wonder if Merc's have the same problems....

Yup, same probme on 2001 330 CI. They fixed the rear speaker, but the passenger door speaker still rattles and it is annoying!!! The thing is my warranty is up, so I guess its not worth having someone fix it, right?
