Is there a way to reset the computer that runs the DVD Navigation System in my 2003 330xi?

The battery died last week... AAA jumped the car, but the navigation system has been on the fritz since then. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It freezes a lot, and sometimes won't load at all (says please wait a moment).

I'm worried that something fried. EEEEKKKKKKKK

Could the computers be effected by humidity? It's been raining for 2 weeks up here in New Hampshire.

Thanks,
jay

Have you tried ejecting the disc and reinserting it? This will at least reset the reading of the disc. It shouldn't be affected by humidity although anything is possible. The computer resets everytime you see the BMW splash screen. You could also try making a copy of the disc on your PC DVD burner and trying the copy disc. Other than that the thing is covered by your warranty, if it is still under warranty.

I'm still having problems with the navigation system... anybody?

It doesn't run right. It is extremely slow when it does work, freezes, but usually just won't load at all.

The DVD itself is not scratched, etc. I've tried taking the DVD out and putting it back in many times. It's very weird.

I am very afraid that the DVD reader/navigation computer is fried somehow. Does anybody know if the computer for that is in the DVD player unit in the trunk? Or is it a separate piece? Any idea how to get another one cheap if I need one?

It is out of warrantee, unfortunately... I might have to go back to reading maps if this is too rediculous.

Any help would be great.

Thanks,
jay
