Has anyone ever had dynamat installed or a similar material? I'm thinking about having the floor and doors done atleast. Its supposed to greatly reduce the road noise. I want to get it done before I get new exhaust cause I have a feeling my fiance will have a fit if she can really hear the exhaust from inside the car. Any info would be great.
How well does it work, how much did it cost, etc.

thanks

i have only heard of dynamat used to decrease rattling and improve bass response for sound systems. it would be interesteing to see if that stuff works for other things such as an aftermarket exhaust. let us know if it does work.[hihi]

Hahaha, I have dynamat inside my computer to reduce fan noise/vibrations !!!!!
Stuff works, but it's nothing significant, AND it smells terrible. The smell went away after a few days because there is constantly air blowing in and out of my computer, but as for a car...what if the smell is absorbed by your interior and you smell it forever, BLAAHH!!!!! Nobody wants that stuff.

I remember reading a Maximum PC article on computer sound insulation and they tested different materials and one of them smelled really bad. I will try to find that article and tell you what is the other material they used that didn't smell at all.

Hey ya'll
Dynamat is just a noise dampening material.
They make it in different thicknes's.
The thicker it is, the heavier it is. Therefor the more sound it will absorb.
Most auto manufactuar's put some in your doors behind your speakers. Usually a cheap grade.
Also I 've heard of it being installed on the floor under the carpet to elliminate road noise.
Just some food for thought!
Peace!

well, I talked to a guy who said he put it under the carpet and in the doors, headliner and trunk.. he said he can't hardly hear any road noise.. like railroad tracks or anything. I'm hoping that would keep the sound of the exhaust from getting to loud in the car.
