Do you turn it off when you get in the car?? It should always be left on, unless you are partaking in spirited driving on a track or something. If there is no light on the dash saying "DSC", then it means it's on.

It cuts in to reduce traction loss as the name suggests and keeps the car steady on roads that are perhaps a little rough, and also in adverse weather conditions. Keep it on in normal driving, I'd say most people here do.

I agree.

It should always be on. Whenever DSC makes inputs such as reducing engine power or braking on one or more wheels independently you will be warned by a flashing DSC light in between the RPM and Speed gauges. I can tell you that it works really good when you try to use 410 Nm torque in adverse weather (it's around freezing level over here...). It cannot save you when you try to do really dumb stuff, but when making slight mistakes or just driving on the edge, the system works like advertised on my car.

So....keep it on....you will never know in advance when you need it.

i'm stupid. i had it backwards and thought that when the light is on that means it's on. that's why i was wondering why they didn't make it to where it's on all the time.

makes sense.

ESP ( Mercedes version of DSC ) does wonders, On snow, or on ice, it will make sure you dont spin out of control every time, I was experimenting last night on a unplowed road.. You can really see the difference with traction control on/ off.

The default condition is that the system is always engaged.

I rarely disengage the system.

It depends upon your driving style. DSC gives you the ability to drive your car to the limits of adhesion without fear of losing control. When you push your car to an oversteering or understeering condition, DSC intervenes to help you correct the condition by applying the brake to a specific wheel and cutting the car's power if necessary. Of course DSC can't overcome the laws of Physics. So if you drive like an idiot, DSC won't help. On the other hand, DSC would only be engaged in bad weather if your Grandma drives your car.

I leave it on. Let's me drive like a minor idiot and the world would never know. It can cut power off when you're trying to make a left turn out of a parking lot (or similar situation), but I tend not to cut it that close so I've never had a problem.

How do you reset the system? What number fuse controls the DSC unit? My Indicator light stays on and the DSC button does not turn the light off. Is it possible to have a defective switch? Is it more likely a faulty DSC box located in the engine compartment? Please help...

Have you ever had your DSC light indicator stay on regardless of pushing the DSC button? I've found out my ABS control unit needs to be replaced. Do you know anything about this?
