E21 noob needing help

i just bought an E21 320iS and im new to this. ive being helped by a buddy that has basically rebuilt his 2002, but im still kinda clueless on what to do or where to start. ive spent the past few days trying to bring the life back into the paint, but i still dont know what to modify first or where to start. can anyone help me out? any ideas would be a help.

Hey welcome to the bimmer community . I would suggest going to the detailing section on this board . check it out , you can bring that red back to life with some good compound/polish and some elbow grease. Mechanically I would check the brakes , engine oil, air filter and regular maintenance items. good luck and welcome ..

thanx man. ive been slaving away at trying to revive that paint with clay compound and its done a lot of good. but i cant get these water spots off they look like theyve been their for many years. other than the paint on the car's fine. i need to put new fluids in and fix som small thing (well alot of small things) but i bought the car for $800 so i have to exspect these things. its already came a long way in the less than a week ive had it. one of the reasons i jumped on it was the fact it only has 118k miles on it.

yeah, heh welcome but theres not to many e21 owners on this board (or atleastive never seen any, unless you guys are hiding them away) most of us are e30 but we can try to help :) does anyone know if the e21 has the same timing belt issue as an e30?

o great more things that i have to fix....yeah i bought it for $800 and the bodys in good shape the engines not bad either. all it needs is a new cat so i can smog it. but there are so many little things that need to be fixed. there all pissy little things but its pretty annoying.

yeah im still trying to figure out what direction to first head in. i have a lot of pissy little things to fix. it also needs to be smogged and re-registered. but im thinking that im going to start with the suspension and if anyone knows where to get some euro bumpers id be very happy to get rid of the god awful diving boards that i have.

Yeah, wow e21 diving boards IMO are hideous i hate them. But god euros look so ****ing secksi I want to orgaism, check this one out, (the poster pretty hard to see but,...)

I really like the alpina front they look great.

Is that a m20 dropped into an e21? I forgot who was telling me this but one guy is working on a way to drop a s14 and a m30 into an e21
