I am really irritated about the selection or LACK THERE OF for rims for my car.
It doesnt really matter the style, i would just like some options when looking for a 16 inch rim. I would prefer though, that they arent rice rims, rather along the lines of these:

but larger than 14 for god sakes.

Where do i go?

Ive looked at BavAuto, TireRack, wheel exchange, ebay (thoroughly), and some other place i forgot the name of all without anything appealing.

I have a flat and two of the tires are already corded. the next set of tires i buy for those rims will probably be hoosiers and am ready to drive it again. Considering i still need to get the whole front end back together, im gonna be pissed if the body shop picked the wrong color again.

Yeah, that was the other place, the one i forgot the name of. I saw a couple that might look good, but i dont think they'd fit.

Isnt there a place that sells e30 rims or such?

Alpina Classics. Light, strong, and not rice. The downside is they are gonna run you $2000. You can get some knock offs from Mike Abrahams for like $800. The downside is they are like 10lbs heavier per wheel and they dont have the locking center cap.

In motion:

dammit i need big brakes.

Did you look at the SSR Competition line at the Tire Rack? They are available in 16 and can be had in silver or anthrasite. They are a very good quality, strong and lightweight wheel. Too heavy a wheel increases the unsprung weight. Kosei K1 Racing is also available in 15, 16, and 17 although the 16 and 17 is not mentioned in the fitment chart. The wheel you show is an AC Schnitzer wheel. If you like that one contact Schnitzer for availability.

Thanks robert, good feedback.
I found a dealer with Schnitzer Type I 16's
Ryan, those are the style rim that i want to avoid... too lazy to clean a thousand spokes.

Keep the ideas and thoughts coming though. im sure someone else with my delima can gain from this thread (as well as i).

You have to be careful to have the right offset and enough clearance especially if you lower the car. A check of the overall diameter should be made to see what effect it will have on the speedometer as well. That is the basic idea behind the plus sizing setups. A larger diameter will cause the speedo to read a little low. You want to stay within 3% of the original overall diameter to preserve speedo accuracy. The 225-50 is slightly larger than the recommended +2 size but that is a matter of personal preference as DrPierceMD said. Unless you have substantial mods it is quite possible to over tire a car to the point it hurts performance.

Even though Schnitzer discontinued those rims someone may still have them and want to get rid of them. Try contacting Schnitzer direct or see if Bavarian Autosport can get you the 16s. They are the ones that are trying to sell the 14s in that model. The SSR Competition are nice rims and are about $325 each. Have you looked at them? They are also strong and lightweight and available in different finishes.
