I have a '97 328i 2 door manual, the fuel gauge light is permanently on and the gauge never shows any fuel even when its full.

From the posts i've read on forums it appears to be the fuel sender thats faulty, do you think this diagnosis is correct?

Someone is advertising a fuel pump and sender from a '95 M3 on ebay at the moment, will the sender fit my 328i? are they all standard? Are the fuel pumps all the same as well? Could i just swap over the whole unit (pump & sender)?

I believe they are relatively straight forward to fit, just requiring the removal of the back seats to gain access to the pump.

I would appreciate anyones opinion on this before i start bidding.

Paul.

yes the M3 fuel pump unit is the same for your car, do not forget you need a seal as well. How much are they asking for both? Visit Arizona Auto Haus one of our sponsors for great values on parts. Also note that the production date will effect the sending unit as anything before 12/94, including some 95 M3's will not fit your car, you need the one for M3's built after 1/95.
