I had my E46's rear brakes done before I accepted delivery. The guy put the old rotors in the trunk, I saw the new rotors and pads. The problem is I've only driven 100 miles and there's this yellow/orange shit caked on my rotors- it looks like perhaps the mechanic didn't remove the melanine off the rotors- It's only been 100 miles- is it too late, are they now shot? Should I try to let driving take care of it, or should I remove the rotors and sand / scrape them- what about the pads now?
thanks guys

Are you sure it is not rust? When I was my cars the rotors always rust in minutes with a yellow orange rust. The first time I brake....it's gone! This is normal. If it is a factory coating then your mechanic did screw it up, because if done properly the new brakes should have been "bedded in".

hmmm

Good question- I took a razor blade out and just scraped off a section- It had the texture of rust and came off really easily- but the way it was caked up, it just seemed like too much to have been rust... I dunno, maybe I'm wrong. Like I said it came off really easily, but I can't believe how after just 100 miles it would be there! You figure rotor SURFACES are gonna look shiny as shit, since the pads literally wear them down every time you brake! Anyhow, we'll see- but I'm a little upset with this.

Any input on a warranty? I'm having hard time deciding on this. I can get a Kemper "Gold" warranty for 1350- it's like supposedly the closest thing to a factory warranty, for 36/mos 45k miles... Otherwise a Wynn's is like 2600 bucks- thats STEEP! having a hard time deciding this...
