Does anyone know how to fix a problem with a fault code that reads "vanos mechanically stuck".If you know what to do w/out taking it to the dealer and fixing it I'd really appreciate your feedback. Thank you.

Not sure if it's possible to do w/o a special tool. But I know Peake Research make a tool for the BMWs that you can buy for about $150 or so that can reset many fault codes.

If you are interested in just clearing the code, then you need to take it to a reputable German car shop and they will have the tools to reset codes. Just call around and find someone to do it.

But you really need to fix the problem causing the code as it will be re-raised if you just clear it and the prob still exists. Duh.
