Electrical issue

I had a funny thing happen yesterday. My 2002 330i was driving along fine and as I was going down a hill when all of a sudden, all of the gauges (speedo, tech, temp, etc) went up and down and the warning lamps lit up. The needle gauges went up, then back down, I let off the throttle while this was going on so I'm not sure if there was any effect on the engine or tranny, but this lasted 5- 10 seconds and all the mpg/trip odo, avg mpg, avg speed, stuff resetted as a result. Now everything seems fine, except the clock on the stereo had dashes across it and it had to be reset.
Anyone ever experienced this/ have any ideas about what happened?

None, but the same thing happened to me several months ago, no problems though.

Similar thing happened to me but when starting the engine - everything went up and down, warning lamps blinking and giving wrong indication, resets, even strange noises from the ACC. The car never started until I got the battery recharged. Then everything went back to normal. About 1 week before that happened I noticed, after refuelling, that the fuel gauge needle was strange - it took more than 15 minutes to go from 3/4 to full tank. Funny thing is that fuel autonomy figures were increasing the more I drove. Seems to work fine now. [headbang]
