Own a 2000 328i (5 speed)...bought it used 10 months ago at 70k miles. Since purchasing, I've put on about 8000 miles. Had no problems with it till now. The problem occurs when I am in the act of pushing the clutch to change from 1st to 2nd gear. The engine and electrical completely cut out...the red fuel light and engine light come on. I restart the car and it may or may not occur again going from 1st to 2nd gear. Wondering if anyone else has this problem?? Also, the problem more likely occurs after I've driven the car, park it for 30 minutes to 2 hours and restart it for my next destination. I'm planning on bringing it into the dealer soon, but wanted to hear some opinions. Appreciate your help.
