Emergency Flasher Problem

Looking for some guidance. I have been having problems for some time with my emergency flashers going off for no reason at all. The problem happens mostly when it is cold outside and also can be set off by hitting bumps in the road. I have had the switch replaced 3 times and also had the instrument cluster replaced (Used Unit) as my mechanic seemed to think it may be a loose relay in the cluster that was causing the problem. Needless to say it didn't fix the problem. At one point the flasher switch was unhooked and the flashers still would go off. Any suggestions????

Electrical problems can be a nightmare.

Have you gone to the dealer? They might have some record of another owner with a similar problem, and hopefully the solution.

Good luck.

The E46 has a feature that if you are in an accident of sufficent damage, the blinkers will automatically activate. I wonder if that feature is "having issues" - especially the fact that going over bumps triggers it.

Don't know WHAT causes this feature to trigger, could be the Air Bag system sensors....?
