Erratic start

Have 1995 320,on random occasions when starting runs roughly then stalls,sometimes starts 2nd time,sometimes 22nd,then runs as smooth as a BMW should.seems to be starving for fuel,I'm told the fuel pumps never fail.Can anyone help with any suggestions,thanks Gavin

The fuel pumps can indeed fail although I am not 100% sure that is your situation. I would check my fuel pump, pressure regulator and make sure you have no vacuum leaks.
