Hi All,

Does anyone know if you can fast forward or rewind using the in-dash CD player on a 2000 323CI? It's really frustrating that I can only skip songs, but I can't fast forward to the middle of a song or rewind to a certain point. How do you lose this basic functionality??? Maybe I'm just an idiot and haven't figured it out. Please help!!!

Usually, you use the button that skips tracks. Just hold the button down rather than just pressing it...that should fast forward or rewind through the song. I hope that works...I don't have a Rimmer so I don't know for sure!

Well, I'll be... that does work! After all these years I never knew you could do that. Mind you, I never really had the need to do it either [:)]

I don't have a button in between. Mine just has the two position "track forward and back" rocker switch that looks like this (< >).

Can you elaborate?

I use MrE's method BTW......

This is what my stereo looks like. It has an "m" button inbetween the (< >) buttons. I just tried MrE's way and it works too. I never knew you could hold down the (< >) buttons to fast forward and rewind. I press the "m" (manual) button and then use the (< >) buttons to fast forward and rewind. Just another way of doing it.

OK now I get it. I have that button in my X5.

My 330 with nav though doesn't have it. You access manual mode from the "SEL" key when a CD is playing. Then the functions are displayed on the flat panel.

Thanks for clearing that up......that's some quick response with the digi cam. Thanks!!!

What about the BMW business CD player. I have that (well except for the logo) and I don't think it fast forwards or rewinds, I think I have tryed holding the button but it didn't work. Oh well, will just have to try holding the button and using the m key today.
Heres what mine looks like:

Tweet that's a useful tidbit, for sure! I'll try it later when I get in to do some errands, but once you push that middle button, will it allow the controls on the steering wheel to FF or RW as well, or just manually on the CD dash?

I knew I had to try pressing the buttons and holding them. It didn't work, it just skipped a few tracks (like from 2nd to 9th), that's all. I tried pressing the m button and then pressing the buttons and it worked. The display shows MAN once I press the m button and then I'm able to FF or RW. Thanks for the info guys, didn't know I could FF or RW before.
