Only if you are driving aggressively enough to spin the wheels or turning extremely hard at speed - DSC kicks in when it detects one or two wheels spinning faster or slower than the rest.

If you drag race, turning off DSC lets you have a little wheelspin for the fastest getaway. Kirby explained it's advantage while at speed.

It's not like it makes your car lighter or makes it speed up or anything. If you think so, it's prolly a psychological thing.

Yeah, I assume it was just a feeling that it was faster. It just felt like the car was less restricted. Why does wheelspin provide for a faster getaway as opposed to having the energy translated directly to forward motion.

Because DSC stops the wheelspin until control is regained, with wheelspin you still have forward momentum/fricton of the wheels w/ the ground (You might be burning rubber, but you're also building up forward momentum in a serious way). Turning off DSC allows for proper 'launches' if you're feeling squirrely. [:)]

Not to say that the DSC would make acceleration faster, but to say that spinning the tire would make for less acceleration. The more power you put to the road the faster your acceleration. Optimum acceleration will occur at the point where the tire is about to lose grip.
