flat spot

i have a bmw 325i se m-tech 1989 (F)
the problem being is a flat spot when you first put your foot on the gas the car seems to miss but then goes fine
any help on this would be grateful

you may be on to something. maybe the cap and rotor. mine does the same thing he described, (used to be worse because i didn't clean my K&N for so long - hence my air filter suggestion) but still does it a little bit. Just kind of sputters like it thinks about stalling just after you hit the gas then kicks in for good. the sputter is so very slight and short but indeed there making it difficult to start on a hill in a manuel. (oh no backfire on mine how bout yours johno?) (did i further describe your problem or is it different?)

it doesn't bother me anymore but i did look at my cap and rotor and i'm amazed my car still runs. Yet another thing on my list to correct some day......

mine does sort of the same thing, but its very slight. my air filter, fuel filter, dist cap, rotor, wires plugs are all brand new. might be a vacuum leak.......

sounds exacally like my problem mjbst111
and yes i checked filter wiring cap and rotor
it is small but very annoying as i live on a hill

Johno, you said you checked everything else but did you check the plugs? How about the rubber boot on the intake? When that gets old it cracks and lets in unmetered air.
