I have the smoked front bumper reflectors to replace the orange ones. This is the only light I'm having a problem trying to get out. Any special tricks I should know about to get the old ones out??? Thanks a bunch!!
Don't see why not. Even if that is the case, it won't be an issue for me to get it passed.
Update: I did get the old ones out. Used a rubber kitchen spatula and pulled each clip individually. Seemed to work okay but it crack the old lights so don't plan on keeping them.
Smoked lenses are illegal as they do not allow enough light to pass through them. Granted you can most likely get away with them, however in a night time accident you could be deemed more liable.
Precision screwdriver is your friend. And since they are reflectors, not lights, no problems with the cops. The euro ones do not come with reflectors. I plan on doing mine this weekend, and the rear, but painting them myself.
These are reflector lenses in the bumper. They are not actual lights so they're not illegal to have smoked. Some cars don't even have them. Now smoked tail lights, headlight covers and smoked marker lights are. I've had smoked tail lights, corners and fenders lights on all of my cars and I have yet to have a problem with police out here. The only thing you get out here is tint tickets. Police hate them out this way. Fortunately I live in a town that consists of 2 cops and they know the townees, so you don't get hassled. Our town consists of like 300 people.
Actually you are incorrect, reflectors are required and regardless any equipment that came stock on the car, ie: safety equipment is required to be maintained per DOT standards. However you are correct in that most police will most likely not care about your reflectors.
