Front-end vibration

I'm experiencing slight, but consistent front-end vibration -- I have almost 70,000 on my '99 323i automatic. At first I thought it was just warped rotars and/or my front-end being out of alignment. But, I had those issues address (new tires and full alignment, new front brakes and rotars). My trusted mechanic went as far as telling me my front end is shot. I'm not mechanically inclined and can't remember all of the parts he said should be replaced (maybe bushings? control arms?), but he said this was typical for a high-performace car to experience greater wear and tear on the front end. He said it would cost about $1000 to replace the necessary parts.

Does this sound right? Am I getting to that point in mileage that I need to start thinking about front-end work?

What size wheels do you have on your 323i? Does balancing the front wheels make the vibration go away? If no try taking your car to a tire shop and ask them if they have a machine were they can balance the front tires while on the car. This has helped me in the past. good luck and try these cheap things before u put in a grand. BMWs are built strong so i doubt u have a big suspension problem at 70,000 unless u live in a city with bad roads.. good luck
