It seems to go away some what as the car warms up but the front end has a whirring noise, get's louder when turning at low speeds. There is no additional effort needed to turn the wheel no matter how loud it gets.
Have you checked your power steering fluid? As you turn the wheel back and forth at a stand still does the sound increase or decrease? When was the last time the PS fluid was changed?
