Well gentlemen, A couple of questions for you gents. First ...and know its been ask what grade of gas do you? I live in SoCAL in the OC and the highest Octane i can get at the pump is 91. And lowest is 87 of course, I have herd of some places having 100 octane, But i cant find them and will it make a diffrence.

SO in a sence what is the highest octane offered to you where you live. If you could at least include state or country, Also what is the lowest octane at the pump.
Last thing what price here I pay 3.60 on average what do you pay.
[cheers]

104 is available in the Auburn Washington area, but you do not benefit from too much octane. If the car is designed for 91 use 91. I use 91 in my roadster, as is called for, and it is running about $3.00 per gallon now.

$3.00 for 91 octane...you're lucky [:0] I just paid $3.76 for 91 here in Hollywood, CA.

I paid $3.00 at the Safeway gas last week with my 3 cent discount. I paid $2.89 in Portland last weekend for regular 87 octane. They say it is supposed to be coming down, but I will believe that when I see it.

It usually marks up before Memorial Day and starts coming down after. That is a pretty good price, but are you sure it was for Super (91)? Then again, I haven't put gas in the M in a little while. Haven't driven it lately. I have been using the medium stuff in the Passport.....

In Michigan, we get 87, 89, 92 and 93. Prices range from $2.79 up to $3.10. I use the highest octane in my Honda's because they call for it, so I just put it in the bmw, too.

Water in the oil tank

Hi all,

What effect will water getting into the oil tank of my BMW have? The "oil dipper" was removed by prevoius owner and rain water may have leaked into it.

thanks, D

Most likely it evaporated off, since the engine is operating at almost boiling temperatures.

It could get pulled into the filter, and cause problems. The filter will absorb the water and swell up, and reduce oil flow. This shows up as a low oil pressure problem, but it would take more than a few drops of water.

I paid $3.05 today for regular in the truck. 91 was at $3.15.
OK Dan, where the hell are you getting your gas at? You don't live that far from me (side note: with that said when the hell are we getting together again? My car still needs waxed [;)] ) The 91 (Super) in my area is going for near $3.50 a gal. unless I go to Costco....

The $3.05 was at the Auburn Safeway and the $3.15 was Costco in Federal Way. I did some checking and Costco gas appears to be as good as any, however it has not been "Top Tier" rated. When I use it I always add Redline's SI-1 injector cleaner.

I would like to meet up anytime, did you get my e-mail regarding Leavenworth?

I have used Costco in the M many times without issues. I am not to worried about their fuel. I least I know the tanks used aren’t old and reused....

I got the email, but I am not sure if I can make an overnighter. I would absolutely love to go, but... When was it again?.....
