Fuel System Question

I have read up on the internet that BMW's have a safety feature where the fuel system shuts off during an accident. I'd assume it shuts off somewhere near the gas tank. Either way i also believe there is a switch to turn the system back on after an accident. Am I wrong about this theory or?

The reason I ask is that I'm looking to buy a 2004 330i that has been in a roll over accident. The current owner of the vehicle says that the engine won't start and suspects the problem is with the fuel shut off feature. He says he can clearly tell there is no fuel going to the engine. I'm not sure if he's yankin my chain or not. i don't think he is because the literature on the internet goes along with his theory.

I was wondering if anyone knows where the switch to turn the fuel system back on might be so that I can let him know and see if we can get the engine started.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated as well. Help me become a BMW owner!!!!!

All vehicles made after a certain date were required to have emergency fuel shut off systems that self activate upon an impact. Usually there is a reset switch in the trunk. On some cars pushing this allows the car to be started and driven off the road in a safety mode, than a service is required. On some vehicles you can reset and go, I am not sure where or which system BMW has but your manual should help.
