That stuff is for 50K+ mile cars and usually are concluded to be garbage anyways. Warm up your engine properly, always use premium fuel, and change your oil at BMWBoard.com's agreed interval of about 7,500 miles and the engine will run for a long, long, long time.

Techron is good stuff and in fact BMW recommends Chevron gas which contains Techron. I however also us Redline's SI-1 injector clearner and have for many years. It came recommended to be by a very good BMW tech. All injectors can become gummed up and a little cleaner now and then is helpful.

Every winter I store my roadster for at least three, usually four months. I have always stored her with a full tank that has Redline SI-1 injector cleaner in it. I have never had a problem.

Ok, Big Daddy, I'm going to get some gas additive and injector cleaner this weekend......do I fill up the car and then pour both of these in or will it be too full? Since I'm in dusty shipyards a couple of days a week, I figure I must need extras........

I remember someone on this board saying that you should pour the additives first and then fill it up. After that, drive for a bout an hour.

Correct, you pour the additives in first so that when you add the gas it helps mix them.

What kind of gas additive are we talking about? I use Chevron gas thus I am getting Techron when I fill up. I add a measurement of Redline SI-1 injector cleaner everyother fillup. I add a double the normal amount of the SI-1 in the roadster when I store her for the winter.

I had a friend who had a studder at about 70MPH in his Corvette. I gave him a bottle of the SI-1 and told him to pour in half the bottle before his next fillup. He did, problem gone. Read the instructions on the bottle, if it is your first use they are going to suggest using more than the regular routine usage. It has a dosage meter, per 10 gallons on the label.

The Redline SI-1 Injector cleaner is about $3.50 per bottle and each bottle is good for about 80+ gallons (I'm guessing, trying to visualize the bottle). I do not know how big your tank is, so if it is 20 gallons your going to use a bottle a month? You really do not have to use it every other fill up, I am just comfortable with that and considering I have 3 BMW's I do not use more than a tank of gas per week between all three. If your driving mostly highway miles, try it every third tank first since those are easier miles than city miles.
