Well today i started having some trouble getting my car to start. It would kick in, in about 5 secs of turning the ignition. I was like thats odd and didnt think about it intill it happend every time. after being at my girlfriends house i came to my car and i smelled gas i didnt really think about it intill i got home and thought wow that makes sence i am loosing gas somewhere and thats why it is taking a while to start my car. So i look and on the drivers side of my car about 6 inches infront of the back tire right on the edge of the car and i see a puddle of gas and drips are comign down slowly. so what coudl be broken and dripping gas and does that make sence why my car wont start up quick. Thanks for all your help

According to your profile you have an 89 325? Have you checked the fuel filter? Check the lines at that location for pin holes or damage from bottoming out on something. The car not starting right away may be due to poor fuel pressure with that leak?

I just replaced my fuel filter, that is where the fuel filter is( drivers side rear tire). I've also had issues with fuel, but fortunatly it has been resolved, thanks to a new fuel tank.[?|]

If you plan on replacing the fuel filter, be sure and properly clamp the lines shut. I resorted to wrapping duck tape around two sets of vice grips and using them.[hihi] The repair is very easy...

That just happened to me a few weeks ago. Because it was a fuel leak, I called my tow service and had it towed to the shop where I work. In the back of my head I was thinking the worst, that I had a crack in my fuel tank.
I didn't realize this, but if you remove the bottom cushion of the back seat, you can access where the fuel pump, and sending unit are. To my great relief, the leak was only the flexible fuel line (about 6 inches) that goes to the pump.
You wouldn't believe how silly (and relieved, and happy) I felt when one of the technicians came up and told me that[thumb]
Cehck it out, and let us know what happens.
By the way, mine is an '89 325i 2dr, 5 speed
