Hi ,
I just bought a second hand 2001 330 1 se saloon manual 2 days ago. today i had a problem that makes no sense. I was going along at about 10 miles hr and was going to do a wheel squeek in second. i reved up the engine a release the clutch but nothing happen apart from the engine reving really high with out any hinderance!?!? then change gear and the same happened .. i let the rev's die down and released the clutch slowly and it was ok.. this happened 3 time at different time throughout the day. i called the garage who sold it to me and he said to bring it in. after traveling 30 miles to bristol to take it back. i tried to repeat but it would not happen. everytime i tried it the car would wheel spin??

does any one know or have suggestions as to what might be causeing this..

where should io go from here ??

any suggestions would be good.

oh it happened when traction control was off and when it was on and i could not smell any clutch at all..[rolleyes][?|]

thanks

You're in the wrong part of the forum - your car is an e46 so you should try to repost there.

Your clutch is still hydraulic though, and the principles are the same, so the only thing I can think of is a dodgy pressure plate, or worn clutch that means that meant that it wasn't working when you first tried. Not common though - its much more common to have the clutch plate freeze itself to the flywheel - has happened to two e30's of mine and my Dad's willys jeep.

I would suggest you are up for a new clutch though. Not sure how you would get on trying to get the place you bought it from to front up if it is worn as they will proably just argue that you caused it trying to do burnouts.
