Getting ready to order...

Hey all, I've been on and off owner for a while. I had a 96 323is, and a 2000 325i. Had them both about 3 years, went and did something stupid and got a Pathfinder. That said, I'm getting ready to move to the NYC area and I want something smaller. Long story short, can you custom order a vehicle you intend to lease? The cars on the lot tend to have all the packages or nothing. I've found it's hard to strike a happy medium if you're going to purchase from inventory.

At any rate, I'd love to hear from anyone who may have ordered a car that they leased.

Thanks,

Josh

[wave] Josh...

Yes, you can order a BMW and still lease. The wait may be 6 weeks, or so, depending on what type of Bimmer you are ordering.

Have you asked your dealer if they can do a computer search (in your area) for the vehicle you want? In that case, you wouldn't have to deal with the wait... [?|]

Another thing to think about; If your dealer locates a vehicle you want through a computer search, if he is able to claim that vehicle before it hits a dealership's inventory, than you will not be charged for the tranport of that vehicle from dealer to dealer.[thumb]

The [key] is to locate the vehicle while it is still on the transport truck...

I had my dealer find a vehicle this way. Initially, he (my sales rep.) tried to tell me I'd be responsible for the 'fees' incurred by them having to send a replacement vehicle to the dealer that [was] going to get my 'ZHP.' I told them I would not agree and they did end up eating
that fee themselves, which could have been up to $300. So that issue [is] a negotiable
topic...

You can definetly order your lease vehicle exactly the way you want it. If your moving to Long Island, PM me and I'll give you the name of my sales rep. I've bought alot of cars over the years and this was my best experience. In any event, good luck with your new bimmer. By the way I had a Pathfinder and had alot of fun with it.

If you are coming to Connecticut I can give you the name of who we used in Greenwich. You can pretty much get whatever you want on a lease, but of course it may take a bit longer then what's on the lot.

I bought it. Car was bottom line $48K. $720/month for 60 months @ 3.99%. I put $15K down.......I know I got ripped off but oh well. I did get the dealer to throw in the universal transceiver and floormats (wowee huh?).

I do love the car though, drives like a dream and a real head turner. The best ones to watch looking are the wannabe ricers (cheesily tricked out '90 Prelude for instance) that just stare at it wishing their car was half as sweet as mine.....[rofl] [rofl]

The floor mats would have sealed the deal for me[^] . J/k, that's not that bad a deal. That % rate is great, they were offering 2.9% in Dec though. I did buy my first BMW back in 2000. I bought a 2000 323Ci fully loaded for 35k. I put down 12k and financed the rest over 3 years at 4.5%. I decided to try leasing this time around, we'll see how it goes...

And thanks for all your great posts dude, BMWROCKS ON [headbang]

Test drove both, to me the extra $160 for payment and $75 for insurance wasn't worth it. Plus, I am 3 points away (on my drivers license ) from riding the bus [:D]. So I won't be driving 'hard' for awhile. [;)]

I do not know if you know but NYS has done away with leasing it is now called smart buy. I do not know the components of it but it is slightly different than leasing. Just be aware and learn about it before ordering your car.

This is great info RuflessPhilly! Thanks. I ordered my 325i on 1/17/04, and they told me 6-8 weeks as well.

BTW, sweet car. The only option I didn't get that I might have wanted was the Nav, but its my first BMW, so I'm happy just to be getting one.
