Howdy again guys

Apologize for flooding the boards, but you guys have been awesome for info, so i figured i would be annoying and drop some more questions!!

YaY [nutkick]

well, as you all know by now i've got a 323i 1985

jus put the system into it (blaupunkt splits, JBL 6X9s, JBL 1000watt amp, Alpine s12 subby) very happy with it so far, however...

upon installation of the sub\amp, we found that there is a solid metal sheet between the rear seats and boot (mine is a 2 door by the way)

when the sub is kicking, low pass rumbles come through nicely, but snares, and puncher bass seem to be smacking into the steel plate and stopping, giving the kick a very, for lack of better word, "Dead" sound

so this question goes out to all off you fanatics, how did you get around this problem!? For i need my rumbling, vibrating bass!! (im a p-plater, goes with the territory)

Thanks in advance

yeah same problem here.. there must be a way to "vent" the boot to the inside car body with out screwing anything up in the process.. like... hmmm... drilling the metal devider between the seats and the boot... (just thinking through my fingers atm)... or somehow modifing the rear parcel shelf in a way in which the sound can come through there easier..

i toyed around with the idea of cutting out a subby sized hole in the metal behind the seats... but logic prevailed

im getting a family friend to make me up a new parcel shelf, with some added holes cut into the sides, and middle, with mesh over it. Ill post some pictures when its finished, and let you know if i get any improvement in my sound

cheers

ok, had a big talk with my uncle (whos my mechanic who specialises in bmers)

there is NO issue with cutting out a hole in the steel plate, as it is just insulation

booked my car into JB hi fi at dandenong, they are taking the "nibbler" to it next week (only cost $50 as well)

it seems in the newer bmers, they have this same plate, but there is a cut out, that just needs to be kicked\cut out, for the sub to face through, the older style, you gotto cut it out

will keep you updated
