hey guys, just got my 325is home and it has a few issues... first of all, the "check" light is flashing in between the gauges whenever the key is on, i assume that this means check gauges, the only gauge that doesn't work is the MPG gauge, does anyone know why this light flashes? Also, the Anti lock light is on, how do you do a diagnostic on the ABS system? Another problem i'm having is that the car takes a long time to start and when it finally does, it smells like gas, as if the engine is flooded, what might be causing this? Thanks very much for any help :)

The check light is for the check panel above your head. If you hit the check button you will make the "check" light stop flashing. Make sure to check the fuse for the ABS and make sure the brake fluid is toped off. If all of that is ok my guess is you have a bad speed sensor on one or a couple wheels. Does the ABS work when you try to lock the wheels up. If it does then make sure you are not locking a single wheel. If one wheel locks then you might have found the bad sensor.

thanks a lot. :) the right tail light is out, that must be causing the check light to come on. When i brake really hard, it seems like all wheels lock up.. I hope its not the control module..

If you have a small leak under the manifold, it may take a long time to start, and might bog down, b/c youre forcing gas into the engine. Also, the smell is most likely from the fuel leak or the overpressure of fuel int the system. Mine had a small leak in the hose under the intake, and it did smell strongly. Might be your problem is only a five miute fix
