I'm curious to the sport-tuned M suspension and the Activeautowerks shortshift. Besides the new ZHP, or the M3, when has there been an M-tuned suspension option?????? I'd be leary of aftermarket stuff added to the car. Personally, I think many aftermarket "upgrades" downgrade the car unless it's all about track performance.

Also, if there's a Valentine hardwired in the car, that immediately tells me the previous owner was definitely into speed. That car might be tired considering it's past lifestyle...

I'd definitely inquire deeper with some hesitation.

Good luck.

Hey guys,

I was thinking the same thing...does sound a bit low...what year was the first year the performance package became available for the 330i?>..could it be that that is what he is referring to by "sport tuned"...sometimes if you actually list what the the "package" contains rather than just stating "sport package" for instance, it almost comes across as more stricking...the thing is last week he had the car in the paper for 35, 500...and now it's down to 30,600...definitely looking to sell quickly

I checked out car fax and it's clean..Unfortunately i cannot tell how he's drivven it though...what are some key signs i can look for that would indicate aggressive driving on his part in addition to the Valentine one?

I check out the wear on the tires. At 26K milies, either the tires are pretty much worn or it's on a new set. I'd also check the break wear. If he drives aggressively, then the brakes have seen better days. A brake job done at BMW can cost about $400+/- for front OR rear. They may be covered under warranty... New BMW's cover everything, including brakes up to 50k miles.

I'd also bet this "M-tuned" suspension is simply the standard sports suspension that he's trying to make sound more than what it is.

For what it's worth, I'd check the dealer lots. There are a ton of decent, newer used cars that are either BMW certified, or at least will be covered by the dealer if any "surprises" lurk. I'd double check that modified shortshift transmission still being under warranty considering it has been altered. How much would that suck if something goes wrong with the transmission and BMW refuses coverage based on some idiot thinking an "upgraded" shortshift actually beats the standard "benchmark" 5 speed BMW produces.

I'd still move on to another car that is strickly stock. That's my gut feeling.

Good luck- Love to hear how you make out.

Jaf211,

You're a man of good taste....I totally agree with you I would want the "Stock BMW look" as well...Who wouldn't?...I am heading out to the dealer today...I know i've mentioned this before but my company has a plan with BMW where we can get the car at invoice...which rocks![thumb]

Although I usually prefer to buy 1 or 2 years old....with something like this it may be worth it to pay the extra $$$ and buy new just for some piece of mind and know that EVERYTHING is covered should somthing go wrong..You are absolutely correct in saying that it would royally suck if something went with the transmission and BMW did not cover it because it was altered..i didn't even think of that...Great point man! [thumb]

Alright off to the dealer i go~~~

ok guys,

just got back from the dealer...with the prices that they are asking for their used cars, it makes more sense to just buy a new one...I mean these guys are seriousley overpriced!

anyhow I saw the X3, 325, and 330...The X3 was nice and all but not for me...I absolutely fell in love with the 330CI...my girlfriend had to call in the national guard to get me off the lot....I tried to hide my emotions in front of the dealers but they could smell right through it...it's almost as though they are a pack of wolves and the moment i stepped on the lot they smelled fresh blood..lol

I didn't drive any of the cars, only because i knew i would be leaving there with one today if i did....The dealers kept trying to get me to go for a spin and i refused....lol....Trust me if i drove one it would be all over!!!..

So the kid who is buying my car is going to finalize the transaction by April 15th at the latest...and of course the suspense is kiling me [?|]

In the meantime it will be more research and talking to my new buddies on here until i sell my Audi...once that happens it Beamer Time Baby!!! [thumb]

yeah my sis's b/f is selling his Audi. I was planning on buying it, its an A4 but I might as well just continue to save my money and wait until next year to get my 330i. He went the other way and is getting that S60r Volvo, I hope its as good as I hear, still not as good as BMW though but atleast I might get to drive something fast for once [:p]

yea i hear ya on that one...definitely worth the wait....i can't wait to get mine...I am just concerned about the electronics portion of it..i mean from what i gather and from talking to other owners that is the only thing with the BMW is their electrical issues...other than that the car drives like a dream...Can't wait!

I'd stay away from "New" used BMWs under warranty or modified cars. Dealers do "under-the-table" work on the cars, and never report it.(adjustments, swaps, rewireing, etc) Like the POS 2003 9k miles loaner car I got, clean carfax, but good GOD you need to see it in person. There are also many things (quirks) that bother the owner, that carfax doesn't list. Dealers love to do some adjustments and invoice it as "NPF" (no problem found, thereby making the customer look stupid) especially when it's the cause of their shoddy work.

Btw, which dealer did you go to?

dude, i totally agree with you on that one...when i intially bought my Audi the car fax listed no problems found and now that i have had it for a while i am finding little things that had to have been fixed "under the table"...Delaers are FCKING CROOKS!...all of them![:(!]

I went to BMW of North Haven, If i buy new I can get the car at invoice through my company discount which is cool...our company has BMW of north haven listed as their dealer...I wonder if i were to go to another dealer if they would honor this as well...only because i did not get a good feeling from this place....not sure if i'm being paranoid....but something about the place just didn't feel right...

Sherdog-

I don't know how convenient it is for you to check out Greenwich BMW, but I bought my ZHP from them a month ago. I had bought my previous 323i from Bridgeport BMW 2.5 years ago. The difference in professionalism and knowledge of the car was night/day. Greenwich was very good. They are totally into customer care and really know the car. Service was awesome and they had my car, exactly how I would have ordered it, IN STOCK. Their inventory is huge. Within one week, I had my 330i ZHP in my garage. Not only that, but they were interested in selling the car, at much less than list price. So, considering you have that "at invoice" deal, price shouldn't be much of a concern.

I have no connection or need to advertise for Greenwich BMW- I just was downright impressed with them, considering 9/10 dealerships I usually go to know less about their own cars than I do. I actually learned new things about BMW from those guys than I already knew. Check 'em out...it might be worth your time. I'd buy another car from them.

Good luck.
