In an automatic trans car when the handbrake is on, can the car reverse? or does the handbrake need to be pulled all the way up for it to hold. From what I understand the car has to be in N or P for the handbrake to be holding?

The handbrake is totally seperate from the trans . The brake should hold your vehicle thru every gear selection . With your foot off the gas of course. If not get your brake adjusted .

Ok, now with that information heres the problem. Incase you forget to take off the handbrake the light stays lit and it beeps if you start driving. Twice on the highway it randomly came on and beeped and after "touching it a little" (not pressing the button or whatnot) it turned off. Then today when reversing I left it on by accident and the rear wheels were locked in R. Realizing this I decided to test it, and noticed that in D it didn't hold the car, or in N it rolled backwards. In order for it to hold in R it had to be pulled all the way up, which made it difficult to get it back down. Now im wondering WTF it never did this before.

The hand-brake may just be a little loose. Or it may have loosened up if you drove on it by mistake for just a little bit. You can take it to your dealership and they can tighten it really easily for you. You won't have to pull the hand-brake up as high anymore to make the brake tight on the rear wheels.

I've noticed in most manual cars. That the E-brake "works" when holding the car from either rolling forward or reverse. But it ALWAYS seems to hold it better in reverse (locks the wheels). Not sure why this is considering its typically just a separate drum brake or something. So direction shouldn't matter.. Who knows..

E-Brake just locks the rear wheels. Reverse, neutral, drive, park, (or any specific gear, 1-6), it doesn't matter. If you pull up the E-Brake, it will always lock the rear wheels. It is not that strong though so it only takes just a little bit of throttle for you to get the car moving with the E-Brake on.

Thing is I accidently gave gas, and felt it really grab the tires so I know it REALLY LOCKED, and this problem never existed before they pulled out the engine to take out the transmission. Infact, now not only does the handbrake have a problem but the + - cruise control and volume buttons on the steering wheel no longer work. As does the car have sluggish acceleration, the way the car handled the yield sign at the highway was quite a suprise, the engine and tranny dont feel like they're working together since it revs high but doesn't deliver that power to the wheels (trust me I remember how it used to work) and the transmission doesn't shift from P R N D smoothly either it makes a noise, and when driving it has a "whine-sound" when accelerating reminds me of my 88 lincoln town car and 100k miles taxis.
And on top of all that they put the engine back in tilting slightly to the back, and looking in I noticed the "nut/screw" holding the fan is really rusty and the fan is very close to the black circular plastic cover.

They really F'd up my car, I SINCERELY MISS MY SLIPTRONIC! At least it was for 10 seconds in the morning and then it was over, and the fun began.
