Mine plays CD-R's with no problems. What year CD player are you playing from? Are you using cheap media? What file format are you using? Does it play reg. store bought CD's OK? Try closing the session on the CD and see if it works. There could be a few things causing this. Maybe your CD player is bad.......

Don't use shitty no-name-brand CD-R's and make sure you have "Close/End Session" or "Finalize CD" checked when burning the CD. Finalizing the CD is what allows all CD players to read the CD-R (creates the table of contents and shit).

No, but I had my original CD player replaced because it kept skipping (for no apparent reason). The replacement works great and I use CD-R CDs all the time. The dealer tried to convince me it was the CD, not the player, but when it continued to skip on all of 'em I got my replacement.

When the original player (installed in March) was replaced in May, that was the end of it. The replacement works great!

Is Customer Relations for real?

I posted a thread in audio & accessories, but it doesn't get many readers as E46. My trunk CD changer is almost 6 years old and is shot. The local stealership wants $100 just to send it in to the repair center. I was looking for a replacment unit or maybe an aftermarket MP3 player. Did know if anybody had any recommendations for a replacement unit.

I'm totally redoing my audio system in my 01 325i. My recommendation woudl be get an Alpine HU...i'm getting the 9835. They are a little more expensive but well worth it. You can change the button colors to match your dash as well. Plays mp3 and Alpine is also coming out with an adapter for the ipod...which suits me well :).

I picked up a brand new OEM trunk changer on eBay for $299. Came in an unopened box. I'll try and check if I can find the seller as he seemed to have a good supply on hand. Absolutely no hassel and quick delivery.
