Harmon/Kardon Subbie

Has anyone had any issues with the Harmon Kardon sub woofer being so bassey that it vibrates the rear deck. Its not that the setting is cranked right up, in fact its well below half way, but some songs come on and things get really rattly out back. (songs with heavy bass guitar or deep synthesiser)

I am guessing the subby is not all that powerful, and I also guess that the level of base it trys to emit is to high for it if you try and get any decent volume into it.

I guess an aftermarket sub would solve? Could anyone reccomend a good setup?

Cheers..

mine was replaced under a service bulletin............heavy vibration and rattling......

On the main page for BMW Board there is listing for Service Bulletins.........I'm sure the sub-woofer parcel shelf is listed for your model too..........

yeah, i have the same problem

Yup, same issue, but mine is a 2004 325Ci, delivered in June, so maybe it falls in with the 03s? What would the dealer do if I took it back? Will they replace it with a better one? How will they fix the rattle problem?

THANKS

I have a 2002 330Ci

I took mine in to the dealer for the same problem
They fixed it under warranty....no charge

Sounds great now.
No more rattling.

Check out the JL Audio Stealthbox, made for the 3 series
I heard they are great for the size, and I am getting them installed next month with a complete stereo upgrade.

JL Audio subs are the only way to go for accurate bass reproduction while saving space. Stealthboxes are designed for your car. I have one in my Expedition with a beefy Alpine amp feeding it. The bass is tight, accurate, and just plain obnoxious when you crank up the system. All from a tiny box that is completely concealed above my rear wheel well. Awesome!
