Alright I noticed a small puddle under my car -- but not at the usual power steering hose or oil cooler locations... it's under the engine block, on top of the shield near the bell housing.

here's a picture

The fluid is Red, but has no definitive smell and is not slippery like oil. It's definitely not oil or antifreeze. The side of the block is a little wet but I think that's from something else.

It does NOT smell like gear lubricant.

What could it be? Is there ANY way that my leaky power steering hose (the one that goes from the reservoir to the pump) can drip down onto this side of the engine (the plate goes under the entire engine/tranny to keep water and stuff away).

The only fluid I can think of in a car that is red is ATF. So there is a cover underneath the entire engine of your car? I guess the 325e doesn't have that, because there isn't a cover over the bottom of my engine - just the plastic shield up front that covers up the belt area.

The power steering fluid could definitely be dripping on the driver's side and running across the top of the cover to end up on the passenger's side, especially if it's a constant leak. Leaking fluids do very strange things with the wind current under cars as they are being driven.
