Hawk Pads

Well after holding onto my Hawk pads for 4 months I finally put them on, and OUCH the squeeling is embarissing. [ohcrap] Im so tempted after only 1 week to go back to my oem dusters. any suggestions????

Well, I've never actually tried this before, but the idea comes from the little blue tubes that you used to get with some brake pads to reduce squeaking. Have you tried puting a bead of high temp silicone on the backs of the pads where the come into contact the callipers?

Did you do the proper break-in for your brakes?

Theres a thread running around here somewhere, but it explains exactly what you should do. I just had my rotors and pads (Hawk as well) done, no squeak at all after doing some 'braking in'.

Did you check your rotors to see if they needed replacing? Some folks can get by with 2-3 pad replacements per rotor, I just replaced my stock pads and rotors at 51k (surprised they lasted that long). The rotors were just as bad off as the pads. (I guess I'm an aggressive braker..) [:)]
