Head Unit Recommendations?

I bought a Sony Xplod about a year ago for the 325i. POS!!

After about 4 - 5 months (90 day warranty of course), it started acting up. The problem is heat. The CD drive locks up - it is quite hot in the BMW stack. I figured this out by sliding it out halfway, it stays cooler and never locks up.

SO I want to replace it with something that can take the heat. What brands are you using out there?

Alpine 9856. Works a charm for me, or you can get the higher end alpine which has changing colours and, therefore, you can adjust it to match the colours of your bmw dash lights!

Thanks, looks like a nice unit and it got great reviews on Crutchfield. I just ordered one with the iPod adapter.

I have an alpine CDA-9807 deck. It works great with MP3s and hasn't given me , or the pervious owner of my A4 any trouble.
