Aww man,
I've been driving the same roads for the last three years and have avoided any animals that come my way. My car has 80 miles on it and a god dmn rabbit ran out in front of me. Well, my anti'lock brakes work trying to avoid damage to the front end. Didn't work, the little piece of s*it hit square in the middle doing about 50mph and pushed back my lower grill and recessed my left foglight. I just needed to vent and have someone else help cope with this pain! DIE ALL YOU f'n RABBITS!! I hope they heard that. I guess I'll be going back to the dealership earlier than expected. OK, e-nuf of that.

Sorry about your luck....that sucks...BUT........... it could have been worse, as Big Daddy said, it could have been a deer or Moose.

Sorry, but like the others said, least it was a small animal and not too much damage. There's a pic floating around where an SUV hit a horse or something like that.

Be happy it was just a rabbit and minor front-facia damage... That bumper-grill and its fancy decor is cheap to replace in comparison of what it would have been with a deer. An adult deer can easily total an e46 travelling 50 mph; and the driver depending on the speed and the surroundings.

BTW, that must have been a pretty big and meaty rabbit, the rabbits I've seen are the size of cats and would just go right under the car where it belongs. But yes it's painful to have an accident with a brand new car. (especially <100 miles brand-new)

Car & Driver has an article about the giant snow blowers they use at Denver's airport. They describe how an occasional rabbit gets sucked in and propellered to death. Picture that.

I lucked out...

I appreciate the replies that have been posted. Yes, I am definitely very happy that it wasn't a deer, since they appear to be a nightly obstacle as well. The rabbits over here are like in-bred kangaroos-so no way they'd slip under an M-Technic front end. Well, all is well now. It turns out after staring at the damage in shock... that all it did was pop the fog light trim out and appeared to recess the foglight. The trim clicked back in place and my lower grill clicked back in place also! There was absolutely no damage done at all besides the mild "heart attack". [:0] I'm going to wear NVG's for now on! Happy Motoring!
