Hi All!
Another newbie here =)
Just got lisence ... However I have been driving for quite some time now as my brother street races a lot and I join him. My dad jus handed me his 2000 Black 323i.

I know I know, a punk 17 year old kid with a BMW.... Sorry =/

Neway, the car is really new as my dad takes good cares of his cars, it has 44k miles.

Now, I love BMW's and I like to drive fast SOMETIMES, like when theres a hot chick that wants to get served haha. Neway, I just figured out that theres Steptronic, now I KNOW how to drive stick, but I have only driven it a couple of times. I used Steptronic a couple times today.

Now there goes the intro, my question is, can someone give me directions on how 2 drive Stepstronic? I Mean, I know how, but I REALLY dont want to wear out the car's transmitiion. Because if therse anything that I learned is that its going to be hell to repair a BMW. And also, will the Performance mode be faster ( when u first turn it into the M/S ) or me driving it manually?

Thanks a ton for the answers !

`g0rdon

p.s
im going to spend some money on a 5 tinted windows first =) then save up for those black rims with the chrome on the side....... then intake / exhaust, then sound system. any tips for these? hehe thanks!

Welcome to the board!!!

Using or not using the manual step mode won't make a difference in wear and tear on the transmission. Well, unless perhaps you insist on cruising in first gear at 6000 rpm. That might be rough on it. [hihi]

The Sport Auto mode will give better performance than if you shift it manually.

Hrmm.... Im still really NERVOUS about messing up this car... Im real lucky that I start off with one. And Im in love with it ( although I wish it was like a 330ci or sumthin hehe)..... IS there any DONT's on the manual transmittion? I jus want it to last, is there and dont's in any other department? Im not any hardcore racer, but i am young.... hehe passing cars and impressing girls is a natural habbit......

You mean any don'ts on your auto? Errr, just don't leave it running in high gear unnecesarily. When reversing, come to a full stop before shifting to drive and flooring it. Basic stuff like that.
